See it in action...
I highly recommend the Omnirocker rocker plate.
I use a Wahoo Kickr Shift smart trainer with Wahoo Systm. Soon after buying my trainer, I was having problems with saddle comfort and after requests for help in the Wahoo Forum I made various changes which I found helpful. One of the suggestions was to get a rockerplate; I had never heard of a rockerplate previously and I admit I was sceptical. How wrong I was.
After reading the reviews of people’s experience of rocker plates I decided it would be helpful to me. Before I bought it, I asked Martin several questions and he was always very helpful and patient with me. He didn’t give me the hard sell or put any pressure on; he was patient and helpful, and I am very grateful for that. As far as I was concerned this was a very good sign indicating confidence in the company.
A very helpful touch is that Martin delivered and fitted my trainer to the rocker plate; whilst he was working he was explaining what he was doing. He then showed me how to get on and off the rocker, and how to use it. When I first got on it, Martin noticed my trainer was not setup or fitted correctly for me. He took extra time to adjust my trainer, explained what he was doing, and made sure I was correctly fitted to it. This was over and above what I had expected and demonstrated his commitment to providing a higher than usual level of customer service. He made sure everything was setup correctly for me and this was critical to making sure I was getting a proper and safe workout. I clearly wasn’t achieving this prior to Martin’s adjustments.
Whilst he was working we were chatting, and Martin is clearly knowledgeable in all things cycling.
Hearing the expert knowledge that Martin has made me feel I had made a good decision with not only the product, (it is very well made and looks and functions well), but with the company as well. There are some very bad companies out there with no customer care at all. Omnirocker is the antithesis of all those bad customer services I ever had.
I am not very confident and was nervous of riding the trainer, but Martin was very encouraging and almost immediately I felt like I knew what to do. Using the rocker plate has made the ride considerably more comfortable all round, the movement is quite subtle and gives a more natural and less stiff feel to riding the trainer. I am using my core more and I feel less strain on my wrists; I have even started to do more riding out of the saddle which previously I rarely did. I also really like the new height of the trainer as I have a more comfortable view of my tv.
So, it’s a yes from me, highly recommend.
The Omnirocker completely changed my indoor riding experience. The subtle, natural movement it provides drastically reduces saddle discomfort and makes long training sessions feel so much more realistic. Setup was simple, and the quality is excellent. Plus, the customer service was fantastic, Martin kept me fully updated on delivery throughout the process. Highly recommend!
Great quality product, really nicely finished, very smooth motion, feels like it will last forever. Also great service from Martin who delivered it himself and set it up for me (took all of 2 minutes to assemble, very straightforward).
Clearly a lot of thought gone into the design including great details like bespoke fasteners for different trainer models to ensure a secure fit. The motion of the plate is great, feels really natural; after a few rides I hardly notice it except that I can now tolerate much longer rides before contact points get sore.
I’ve had a full-motion Omnirocker for a few months now (using it with a road bike frame and Tacx Neo 2T).
I live reasonably close to Martin, so he came round and installed it himself. It was immediately clear that the rocker is well made, with attention to detail and a great finish. It was also clear from the conversation we had that he’s given the design a lot of thought and he was thinking aloud how he could make small improvements based on my specific set-up.
Martin suggested not using a front-wheel riser to allow the wheel to turn slightly, helping with the balance. I gave it a go, and now agree about the movement, but I have subsequently bought an Elite Sterzo as I find the auto-centring is helpful and leads to a smoother set-up.
I use Zwift and Trainer Road. On Zwift, I do some racing but spend a lot of time on pacer rides and mountain climbs. If you’ve not used a rocker before, I wouldn’t suggest going straight into a race: it took me a while to build up confidence and technique to be able to put down a lot of power out of the saddle.
However, taking it slowly, with a series of steady-state rides/climbs and the occasional out-of-the-saddle work, I was able to gain confidence to feel comfortable sitting and standing.
In the past, I’ve found myself spending a lot of time out of the saddle on long virtual climbs (something I don’t do in real life). With the Omnirocker, I can now stay seated and push a consistently high (for me) power without the slight discomfort I used to experience. It really does make harder/longer efforts more ‘enjoyable’ … I can concentrate on the discomfort of the cycling effort rather than the specific discomfort of turbo training!
Similarly, on hard sessions in Trainer Road, I spend a lot less time shuffling positions as I try to get comfortable on the saddle.
In recent years, I’ve spent more of my training time on the turbo rather than outdoors. When I’ve come to do long, mountainous, sportives, I’ve found that this has helped me reach the required fitness levels, but it has hindered my core/shoulder flexibility/strength meaning I’m quite uncomfortable after a very long outdoor ride. The Omnirocker is definitely helping me stay more mobile on the turbo, increasing core/shoulder flexibility. It will be interesting to see how this translates to comfort on very long outdoor rides (I’m also trying to do more off-bike conditioning for this too, though).
I’m definitely glad I took the step of buying a rocker. The Omnirocker is the only rocker I’ve used, but I’d be surprised if there was an alternative design that could be any more comfortable/natural in fore-aft/left-right movement. Several months in, the rocker is looking like new. If I did have any problems in the future, I’m confident Martin would provide great support.
